There was a time when individuals were expected to choose very early whether they wanted to become a scholar or whether they wanted to become a tradesmen. Those who wanted to do business had to get themselves enrolled as an apprentice with an expert tradesman. The idea was that running a business involved not just theoretical knowledge but practical experience as well. This is the reason why the education was converted into a long training session where the individual would serve under the expert for many years to become an expert himself.

Well, times have changed and we have a theoretical courses for even business activities. In fact, I heard people discussing the pros and cons of manual handling courses when they were having coffee in the coffee shop where I work. Well, the biggest disadvantage of such theoretical courses is that they will always chase the market and will never be in a position where they anticipate what the market requires well in advance. Just take the example of an individual trying to become a writer.

Writing schools keep track of the latest popular books and try to inculcate the writing styles in their educational system. No school can be in a position to anticipate which book is going to become a hit in the near future. Inculcating the writing styles of that particular book is what is going to make a huge difference to the life of an amateur writer.

Unfortunately, the only way an individual can anticipate this is by keeping the ears to the ground and anticipating what the public requires. I believe this is true for all courses that mix practice with theory. Unless there is heavy emphasis on the practical aspects, that is very little chance of the theoretical aspects making a difference in the long run.

What I’d give to live back in the day. Back in the day things were so much simpler. For example, you could do almost anything without a license, and besides that, if you did need a license it was pretty much handed out. There were a few draw-backs, of course – the Plague, all kinds of other horrible diseases and worst of all no internet! – but in the main it seems to me like it was an easier time.

One thing which was easy was insurance: as in there wasn’t any. Nowadays you have to have everything insured. You even have to have your insurance insured by other things just in case! To my mind that’s pretty much ridiculous.

Back in the day – if we’re talking caravans, for example – you just made a caravan out of wood. Let’s say that in a time before caravans you wanted an additional compartment to your horse-drawn carriage. Simple! You just made one out of any old wood you could find and attached it and drove away. After that, you’d only ever get in trouble if you murdered someone. I’m sure that getting in trouble for not being insured back then was virtually unheard of.

In short, you have to have it and you have no choice. There’s no point in complaining about it either, because of course that won’t do any good at all.

Nowadays Caravan insurance is a completely different story. You’ll want to have it just in case your caravan gets burned down by youth – which would have been something to laugh at the impossibility of if we hadn’t just experienced the worst riots in history – and you can’t go on holiday. You’ll also need to have it for legal reasons. In short, you have to have it and you have no choice. There’s no point in complaining about it either, because of course that won’t do any good at all.

The future of insurance, I hope, is going to be better than it has been (and let’s face it…in terms of spending stupid money on premiums it’s unlikely, I think, to get a whole lot worse any time soon). Who knows, maybe the insurance companies will get so fed up with their job that they’ll just all close down and leave us alone to revert back to how it used to be.

Then again…I’m not going to hold my breath. We live in an age of make-money-out-of-anything. That means we have to accept that although things can be really lucrative for us, they can also be a total nightmare (not that we’ll forget that in a hurry).

Why do I want to become a writer? I have never found a satisfactory answer to this question. I believe that I will never become a writer the day I answer this question properly. I can claim that my English is as good as some of the best writers in the business. After all, I would not have made such a bold presumption about my writing abilities had I not been confident about my command over the language.

With my skill English, I could have easily obtained one of the many teaching English jobs available in my country. With the internet making it easier to find students, I could have easily settled down for a comfortable and relaxed life. However, I never was attracted by the possibility of steady income from such a job. That is the reason why I work in a coffee shop and try to make ends meet. Of course, I am always searching for more time to write.

I have sent my work to countless magazines and publishers and having received praise on more than one occasions. Of course, the praises have never been accompanied by a contract but I know I have talent and am prepared to be patient. One thing is certain - I will either become a writer or shall die trying. This is one point that I am completely confident about.

I am not interested in getting married, having kids or enjoying life unless and until I become a writer. Call me crazy but I believe that this crazy devotion to the field is essential to become a successful writer.

People-watching should be made an Olympic sport. If it was I’d be a gold medal winner three or four times over, I reckon. Like anything – exploring Vinyl Packaging for interesting fonts, or looking for an antique I can do up and sell on – people-watching is sometimes good and sometimes bad. Sometimes it is neither, as it’s raining and hardly anyone comes into the coffee shopt to sit down! But what it is, always, is productive. I couldn’t speculate as to how many people have influenced my writings, but I will say this: it is a lot.

If you pay enough attention and are open enough, your characters just walk straight into your field of view. You can monitor the way they hold their coffee cup, the way they look suspiciously left and right while talking on their mobile phone, and countless other things which help you put them in your novel. With enough information and interaction, you get to create a character from scratch, and see them act out real life right before your eyes.

One of my favourite tricks is to strike up a conversation with them as they sit there. I watch how they react – the facial expression and how it changes, and the way they hand me the money for their drinks – and later on I use those notes in whatever I am doing. All of it is useful, and all of it enables me to write more realistic characters, or at least that is the delusion that I am under.

It is my personal opinion, as a person who has spent great deal of time focusing on the banking sector and the legal regulations that govern the area, that probably the best job to have is a job in the banking sphere. But is that so? Several reasons are there all of which indicate the same thing - banking is the best.

Firstly, banking jobs offer you the opportunity to work on the large scale. This means that you would be able to work full time on projects which involve serious exhaustion of capital and finance. This motivates you to work, gives you the perception that you are doing some high priority job and secures your future interest. No deal is big enough and the passion to develop is always there in banking.

Secondly, I consider the bonuses bankers get the best contribution to someone’s salary. The opportunity that you have is to take advantage of every deal you make and work on commission added to your wage - this gives you an amazing chance to make money that you can spend in a month and worry no more about small things in the every day life such as paying the central heating oil suppliers. The best thing is that every such bonus comes on top of a good salary that you deliver you a good lifestyle and a dynamic job. The people you are going to work with will be mostly well educated young people and internationals which would also deliver you the best working environment you can get in the UK.

Similar Posts:
Things You Can Do Other Than Drink : I have been on antibiotics…
The Future? : I’m in business, am well up with the latest…
Eternally About Me : As I have said at the bottom of this page,…

I love writing. Obviously. Here I am, writing in my blog again, so I must like writing quite a lot. In fact, I’d like nothing more than to be able to give up my day job and spend my days in my pyjamas, listening to rock music and writing my next best selling novel or Hollywood screenplay. For now, however, I’m stuck behind my coffee bar, watching people sit in my coffee shop, writing.
A lot of people like to write in public, for reasons that I’ve never quite been able to figure out. JK Rowling herself wrote the first Harry Potter book in a café in Edinburgh, because the flat she was living in at the time had no heating. So at least she had a reason for getting out the notebook or laptop in public and scribbling down her inner thoughts and ideas.
Maybe all those people I see tapping away at their computer keys or scratching away on notepaper are hoping they will become the next JK Rowling – and are hoping that a coffee shop environment will give them the same kind of inspiration it gave her. I think it’s far more likely that they want an attractive member of the opposite sex to see them and think; “Wow. They must be a really interesting and sensitive person to be sitting in a coffee shop writing poetry/plays/prose”. It’s more likely they’re scribbling down their shopping list or revising the notes from their manual handling courses, but that pretty girl in the corner who keeps catching your eye doesn’t know that, eh?

So, working in a coffee shop is great I suppose. I get to meet cool and interesting people everyday. there is a bohemian vibe here and every European in town comes to this here coffee shop for the fantastic Italian standard espresso that we serve. On the other hand, working such long hours means that I have little time for writing and seeing the inside of the same lousy coffee shop every day does nothing for creativity and imagination.
My options are, in the case, to either find a new job, live on the streets and be a real writing hobo or to pack my bags and fly off to Europe with the little saving that I have got and maybe hope to find a little bit of extra work out there while I write my first best selling novel. With my mediocre levels of French speaking though, I am unlikely to get a high paying job like selling horse insurance but I might just get to work in some cool Paris street cafe or in an international bookshop like Shakespeare and Co.
I could walk around all afternoon in a beautiful foreign city, watching lovers and visiting places that are featured in some of the world’s most famous stories ever and maybe meet a handsome and sophisticated European man who will walk with me hand in hand in the park and take me up to his fourth floor walk and read me poetry all afternoon. Hmm, I think the decision is made, its off to Europe for me.

I realize I need roaming and worldwide coverage on my mobile if I am going to survive. It is a fine art learning how to live well and a small income and I thought I would share some of my best tips with you.Skype, I realize is that answer to the horrible phone bill. If you are not familiar with the internet program which lets you make free computer to computer calls you should do it. Also, things like facebook really do let you stay in touch with loved ones without having to spend a fortune. Cook with one vegetable at a time. This is the best tip I know for cutting down of food waste. I had a flat mate who would make a stir fry and buy six different vegetables and leave a little bit of each to rot in the fridge. It is much better to buy one or two ingredients, use them up and then buy more as needed. Switch to linux if you are a heavy computer user, it has loads of free programs and you will never spend out for soft ware again. Shop at the ALDI, but read labels. There are a lot of products at the cheaper supermarkets that are completely pure and simple, this goes the same for the saver brands as well. Sauces and things that combine a lot of different ingredients can be disgusting, but lots of things like tomatoes, frozen vegetables, pasta, and rice are simple and cheap.

Diabetes is one disease that not only troubles man but also man’s best friend. The cause of diabetes in the canines is due to the malfunctioning of the pancreas, which results in the fluctuation of insulin and also causes improper metabolism. This is one disease that can surely frustrate both the dog and the owner and it can be worse than tattoo removal uk and the pain it can cause during the removal. Some of the symptoms for diabetes in dogs are excessive thirst, vomiting, lethargy, frequent urination and most importantly cloudy eyes. If not treated early, dogs tend to get blind due to diabetes.

Quite a few precautions have to be taken if your dog is suffering from diabetes. The food should contain all the necessary nutrients and should be also altered as per the diabetic condition of the dog. A regular check has to be kept on the glucose level in the blood. Medications has to be both oral and through regular insulin injections.

Diet for your dog in diabetic condition should have minimal amount of carbohydrates, sugar and sodium. Instead of the branded food from stores, it would be safer to feed your dog with food from home. This will ensure the right food for your dog. The entire intake in terms of meat should be lean. Commercial semi-moist food should be totally avoided as they contain quite a lot of sugar. Vegetables are a good source of fibre for your dog. They will help in digestion and will also help with internal cleansing. Pumpkins, broccoli and carrots are rich source of fibre.

In case if you are unable to feed your dog with home food and have to rely on the commercial food then make sure you get the ones that are specific for dogs with diabetes. Try and make sure that you feed your dog with liquids, so that it would be easy to digest. Take them out for regular exercise, this is a must and can be beneficial for both the dog and the owner.

Recently while serving a customer I overheard her on the phone trying to strike a deal with her teenage daughter in an effort to get her to something. It sounded like a trade negotiation and I hope it had nothing to do with the child wanting to something like Botox. But why should that mother be bargaining with her child?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"/>

Parenting in the twenty first century is quite a complex issue. In the worldwide pursuit to give children back their rights, the world has unfortunately gone too far in liberating children from their parents will. This is what has led to many children these days being the willing bully of their own parents. This constantly puts parents in positions where they are forced to make bargains with their kids if they want to get them to do something. This is not a good idea at all and while it may seem to help in the current parent child relationship it will have more than a few negative effects on the child and parent later on.

One of the most notable effects of bargaining is that the child will no longer be able to draw a line between responsibilities and duties that they should be awarded for. Soon enough a child who is used to being bargained with will neglect responsibilities because they will feel that they have nothing to presently gain from undertaking such duties.

The second thing is that once you bargain with your child one or two times it will soon turn out to be a habit. A parent will find themselves forced to bargain and negotiate with their children in order to get them to do the simplest tasks even if it is just brushing their teeth. Such days will be moving from one bargain to the next and there may even come a time when the child will start raising the terms of the bargains. The children will want more for less and when the parent won’t deliver the children will most likely say no even to the previous terms of the bargain. Do not bargain with your children.
